# Publishing, Calendar and Analytics

*Last updated: 2026-08-07.*

Everything that happens after the writing is done: getting a post onto a platform, keeping track of what is queued, and learning from how it performed.

## Publishing

The publish controls sit directly under every screen where content is created, so a finished post never has to be copied into another tool.

* **Post now** - Sends the post to your connected account immediately. Each platform button shows which account it will post as, so there is no guessing when a team manages several handles.
* **Schedule post** - Choose a date, an hour, a minute in five minute steps and AM or PM, and the post goes out on its own at that time. The time has to be in the future, and nobody needs to be at a keyboard when it lands.
* **Posted manually** - Logs a post you published yourself, directly on the platform, with no account connection required. It appears on the calendar stamped with the current time, and once the platform's own figures come in they are matched to it so its numbers join the rest of your reporting.
* **Facebook and Instagram publishing** - Not available yet. Both platforms appear in the publish panel but cannot be selected, and nothing can be sent to either one today. X is the platform you can publish to right now. (beta / in progress)
* **Thread composer** - When a piece of content arrives as a multi post thread, you get one editable box per post with its own character count, its own image, and the ability to add further replies or delete them while more than two remain. X publishes it as a real reply chain, and each reply only goes out once the one before it has landed. Facebook and Instagram receive the same thread folded into a single caption.
* **Media attachments** - Attach an image or video to a post before it goes out, or carry through a clip produced elsewhere in the product. The attachment travels with the post, is flagged on its calendar entry, and is shown in full when you open that entry.
* **Generate an image for a post** - Inside the thread composer, each reply can have an image created from its own wording and attached in place, without leaving the publish controls or opening a separate image tool.
* **Brand asset picker** - In workspaces set up for Web3 projects, the thread composer can pull an approved logo, template or brand image from your existing library instead of asking for a fresh upload each time.
* **Media rights check** - Before a post with an attachment reaches a platform, every attached file is checked against its recorded usage rights. If a file is restricted, or its rights cannot be verified, the whole post is stopped and marked as failed with the reason, rather than going out quietly.
* **Approval workflow** - Where a workspace has approvals switched on, anyone below the review threshold submits rather than publishes: the post lands on the calendar marked as awaiting approval, a reviewer approves or rejects it there, and approved posts publish at their original time. The threshold itself, and whether your plan includes it, are set in workspace settings.
* **Attach a post to an experiment** - Link a post to a running experiment variant as you publish it, so its results are counted toward that variant automatically. Only experiments that are still open, and that match the platform you are posting to, are offered.
* **Connecting the accounts you publish to** - Connecting an X login, choosing per handle whether it feeds analytics or publishes, setting a default handle per platform, fetching or re-pulling analytics, and re-authenticating or disconnecting all live on the Social Connections tab in Settings, and are described under Social connections in Workspace Settings, Team, Account, Support and Help.

## Calendar and queue

One place to see everything scheduled, published, awaiting review or in flight, plus a live view of anything still being generated.

* **Month, week and day views** - See your whole publishing plan at a glance, then drill into a single week or day. Every entry is colour coded, so awaiting approval, queued, publishing, posted, manually logged and anything stopped all read differently without opening them.
* **Move around and refresh** - Step back and forward a day, a week or a month, jump straight back to today, open a specific date from the month grid, and pull the current state without reloading the page.
* **Status and platform filters** - Narrow the calendar to a single platform or a single state such as needs approval, scheduled, posted, manual or failed. Your platform choice is remembered between visits.
* **Awaiting approval shortcut** - When posts are waiting on a reviewer, that reviewer sees a count at the top of the calendar that jumps straight to them.
* **Post details** - Open any entry to read the full text, view its attached media, and see every reply in a thread in order with its own images. A post that failed shows the reason it failed. Threads collapse to a single calendar entry so a seven post thread does not fill up a day.
* **Engagement on a published post** - For posts that have performance data, the detail panel shows the metrics that platform actually reported, a label for where those numbers came from, and a link straight to the live post.
* **Reschedule** - Move a post to a new date and time without rewriting it, as long as it is still ahead of its original time and has not started publishing.
* **Cancel a scheduled post** - Stop anything that has not gone out yet, including a post that is overdue or has been stuck mid publish.
* **Delete an entry** - Remove manual logs, cancelled posts and failed posts from the calendar. Deleting a manual log also removes it from your analytics, so a mistaken entry stops skewing your numbers.
* **Generation queue** - A collapsible panel in the corner showing everything currently being generated across the whole workspace, which tool it came from, who started it, and how long it has been going. You can cancel work in progress, dismiss finished results, and report a failure without leaving the page.

## Performance dashboard

The home view for results: headline numbers, what performed best, and an AI read on why.

* **Performance overview** - Total posts, impressions, likes, comments, shares, new follows, a combined engagement score and an average engagement rate, all for the period you choose. Ranges run from seven days to all time, with a separate control for which prior period to compare against, so every change figure is a comparison you picked.
* **Data coverage** - The header states the date of your oldest and newest post, so you can tell straight away whether a flat month is a quiet month or a gap in the data.
* **Platform view** - Switch between all platforms combined and a single platform. Every card, ranking and insight on the page follows the choice; the split by platform only applies in the combined view, and a focus banner only appears when you pick one platform.
* **Data source view** - Filter to numbers that were fetched from the platform, uploaded from a file, logged manually, or published from here. This makes it obvious which parts of your reporting are verified platform data and which are hand entered.
* **Top Posts by Engagement Score** - Your ten best performing posts for the period, each with its platform, where the data came from, its raw numbers and a link to the live post.
* **Posts by Platform** - A chart of how your output is split across the platforms you actually posted on in the selected period, so an unbalanced week is obvious at a glance.
* **Hottest Posting Times** - Ranks your eight strongest hours of the day by the total engagement your posts earned at that hour, with how many posts you have published in each slot.
* **Hottest Post Types** - Ranks content formats such as image, video, carousel, link and text by average engagement per post, so you can see which format actually earns its production cost.
* **Focus Areas for the Next 7 Days** - When you are looking at a single platform, a short banner calls out the opening word your best posts share, your most used format, your strongest posting hour and whether follower growth is rising or falling.
* **AI Performance Analysis** - A written analysis of the visible data, split into what is working, what is not working, a short list of priority actions for the week, and a hidden gem worth reusing. It needs at least four posts in view to run. It shows when it was last updated, flags itself when you change filters, and can be rerun on demand.
* **Algorithm Opportunities** - Part of the same analysis, sorting platform behaviour into what you are already doing well, what you are underusing and what to test next, with a label showing whether each point came from published platform guidance, your own workspace notes, or a pattern observed in your posts. Where the guidance behind a point is no longer current, it says so rather than presenting stale advice as fresh.
* **Automatic analytics sync** - Connected accounts refresh on their own through the day, bringing in your posts and their engagement without anyone clicking anything. The first refresh reaches back up to a year, so your reporting starts with history rather than an empty chart.
* **Refresh Data** - Pull the latest numbers on demand, and the button itself tells you when you last did so.
* **Calendar and upcoming** - Real estate workspaces get an extra strip on the dashboard covering the next seven days, showing how many items land on each day and then listing the closest few with their time, platform and status. It answers what is going out this week before anyone opens the calendar, and says plainly when the next fortnight is empty.
* **Quick workspace** - A panel beside that strip with four shortcuts, to properties, to people, to content creation and to market data. It puts a real estate team one click from the thing they actually work on rather than the reporting they happen to land on.
* **Real estate workspace overview** - Until a real estate workspace has published or imported any posts, the dashboard leads with how many properties it holds and how many of those are in an active deal or marketing stage, alongside routes to add a property, start writing, or read the market. A workspace that is genuinely busy shows something true about itself instead of an empty performance chart.

## Data Ingestion

Where all the raw material comes in: your historical performance data, the feeds the AI reads, and the reference material it writes from.

* **Post Analytics** - A guided upload for platform exports, accepting a spreadsheet export, a structured data file or a feed file. The platform is detected from the column headers and the columns are mapped for you, or you pick the platform yourself when it cannot be told; you then review and correct the mapping before importing, and only the date and time of each post is strictly required. Columns you did not map are kept anyway, and duplicate rows are only merged automatically when your export includes the platform's own post identifiers.
* **Upload history** - Every past import is listed with its file name, row count, platform and outcome. Owners and admins can remove one, which also deletes every post that import brought in.
* **RSS Feeds** - Add any news or industry feed you want the product to watch, name it, and switch it on or off. These feeds become raw material for content ideas and current events context.
* **Algorithm Sources** - The blogs, accounts, newsletters and forums used to track platform algorithm changes, reachable from here as well as from Algorithm Watch, and described under Algorithm Watch on the Content Optimization page.
* **Knowledge Base** - Your own source material, brought in from a documentation site, a sitemap, a list of pages or an uploaded file, so generated content is grounded in fact rather than invention. The ingestion controls, parse quality reporting, source tuning, daily sync and the AI-readable exports are described on the Assets and Knowledge page.
* **Brand Accounts** - Register one feed each for your own X, Facebook and Instagram accounts so the product knows what you have already posted and stops suggesting topics you have just covered. Each slot shows when it was last fetched and can be switched off without deleting it.
* **Reconciliation Queue** - Handles the case where a post you logged by hand and the same post fetched from the platform both end up in your data. Review each pair side by side, with how similar the two are and how far apart in time, then merge them into one clean record, keep them separate, or undo an automatic merge that got it wrong. You can look at just the pairs needing a decision or at the full history of what was already decided.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://thecontentforge.gitbook.io/thecontentforge-docs/feature-glossary/glossary/publishing-and-analytics.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
